And, Again, I Say, Rejoice!

Hi everyone! Today we’re going to take a look at rejoicing.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 it says; “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

I know that occasionally times get so tough and that it seems like you can’t escape your problems. I know the feeling of just being so depressed and when there are so many problems that it just doesn’t seem like there’s anything to be thankful for or to smile about. We’ve all been there at one time or another, but God’s Word says to “Rejoice always.” It doesn’t say to just rejoice whenever you think of something to be happy for, it says always.
Now this doesn’t mean that you should be happy that you broke your leg or that you failed a test – it just means that even in the hard times, there are still reasons to rejoice. For example, you could rejoice that you didn’t die when you fell and broke your leg. And even though you failed that test, you can rejoice that you have such awesome parents or friends who can help you to study and understand your work better.
And of course, you can always rejoice that you have a Heavenly Father who loves you no matter what and catches you when you fall.

The Word also says to “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.” Now, praying without ceasing seems like it would take a lot of practice, and a way to practice is by praying more and more each day. You don’t have to pray only when you’re having your Bible time or when you sit down to eat your food. You can pray any time, any place.
And when you pray, make sure that you aren’t only asking for things. Thank God for what He has given you. Your family, friends, your talents, everything! Everything you have has been given to you by God, so we should be sure to thank Him daily for His blessings:)

I hope this post inspired or encouraged you in some way. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them in the comments section below! I’d be happy to answer any questions you have and to discuss this subject further with you:)

  1. I love that verse! I need to remind myself to rejoice and pray some more… 😛 Thanks for sharing, Jaclynn! And by the way, I love your new blog! I think it is awesome. Last year I was thinking about starting a Christian blog too, but for the time being I stuck with bringing glory to God through DWOD. Anyways, I hope you have a ton more followers and readers – this blog was a great idea! 😀

    1. You’re welcome :)
Awe, thanks so much, Madi! I think that would be great if you started a Christian blog, but I do think you are doing a great job at spreading God’s Word through DWOD :)
      Thanks again, Madi! :)

  2. Hi Jaclynn! Just learned about this beautiful new blog of yours. I love it. These posts are inspiring!
At my school in our choir we sing a beautiful song of this verse — it’s called Rejoice in the Lord Alway (yes, alway — not sure why, maybe because it’s easier to sing and cut off on…). It’s one of my most favorite songs to sing with the choir :)
    God Bless!

  3. So encouraging, and so true! Worship is a fundamental part of the Christian faith…we worship because our God is amazing. We worship because we are so thankful, so joyous, so full of love and happiness in our Heavenly Father’s presence. There’s ALWAYS something to be thankful for. :) Great message, Jaclynn!
